What would I use to scan an environment and parts to create a VR/AR simulation?

There’s a garbage/recycling company near me that is looking for bids for educational training software for their employees, things like how to fix different pieces of equipment and stuff like that. If I wanted to do a 3D scan of the machine and the different pieces so that I could make a VR training simulation for how to take it apart and put it back together, what kind of scanner would I use?
