Used 3D scan data to speed up modeling thermal camera mount for my phone case.

3D scanning has really improved the ability to make parts that mate to other objects.

The phone holding part was perfect on the first try. I did have to adjust the design after the first print to tweak the fit a little bit for where the camera module and USB adapter fit — when doing the original scan, the camera and adapter were slightly sagged from their ideal location – I had to go back and fudge the model a little bit to compensate. Also, 3D printed support distorted the print a little bit, too.
