Hello, I’m a machinist and I’m having a little trouble understanding a problem I’ve been having at work.
I quickly drew up a little visual aid in paint. Please note this would be a top down view of the part, the feed ramps and Datum C are not on the same vertical plane. https://imgur.com/a/cPzXm9J
Is it possible for the position of my feed ramps to be within .001″ of datums A and C (C is a cross hole and A is the outside diameter of the part) and feature/datum C to be within .001″ of datum A but have the angle from the center of Datum C to the center of the feed ramps be off by .7°?
These features are being checked on CMM.
I’m at a loss here, because my understanding was always if I had the positions where they should be the angles from positions to their datums should be pretty close, enough to hold ±.5°.
Is there a chance this is a CMM problem?
Any insight would be great and appreciated.
