Thinking of going in on a scanner

I’m a creative guy with what people call ADHD. I like to DIY and trying to save money actually costs me a lot of time which ultimately costs more money. I’ve had many hobbies and interests and like to read all about whatever I’m into and I scour threads to make informed purchases based on concensus in reviews and feedback. That being said, I have a home remodeling business and I am about to start a fire restoration on a historical Victorian home built in 1875. My original plan and estimate included outsourcing millions and have special cutters made for the moulding buildup needed in the 8 ft tall arched doorway and having the peices milled then assembling. This would not account for the 3 transitions throughout the arch which I planed on making a template and shaping plaster to accomplish. Then…I had an idea. My son and I are also putting a widebody kit on his nissan 350z and we’re talking about creating a custom one from scratch for my wrx. The idea of mirror imaging and how to accomplish it came up and that is how I ended up here. So…after looking and comparing and deciding what my budget is. I landed on the CR Otter. Ultimately the insurance company is paying for half of it just for me to use it and I can write it off or I wouldn’t even be able to swing this. What I need a scanner to do is: 1)Scan various pieces of trim 8 ft long or be able to create smaller pieces and fit them together as I would with any other trim. 2)Convert scan from a mesh file to a file that a CNC can read and cut the image. The otter is geometry capable I do believe. 3)Obviously be able to scan cars and create fitted parts for the widebody…any thoughts on a large format printer on a budget would be great. Rough printing is acceptable as the prints would be for mold purposes and could be tooled touched up prior to making a master. Ultimately I want to make sure I’ve done the correct homework for the most capable and usable tool for the job. I know if I wanted super accurate results this wouldn’t cut it but for my intended use….close is an absolute dream. I think it would be challenging and fun to figure out. I just tackled vinyl cutting and laser engraving using inkscape and this is the next step for me.
