Scanner for small Model kits & Toys

I’ve been in the market trying to decide on a direction to go. I’m considering all the “hobbyist” scanners that I’ve seen in this sub- Miraco Plus/Pro, Mini 2, Creality Raptor, even the Metro X (even tho it’s too early to tell from reviews) or just a DLSR for photogrammetry.

For context, I’ve been a professional environment artist/ 3d modeler in aaa games and ar/vr for the past 15+years. I’m very comfortable building 3d models from scratch and have professional experience doing photogrammetry. While cool, I’ve always wished for an easier & more intuitive 3d scanning process so that I can reverse engineer with a base without creating assets from scratch with calipers or a camera set up.

If I’m being honest, I’m leaning toward the Creality Raptor over the Mini2 or even Miraco Plus. I’ve also watched the Einstar Vega but I’m not convinced its software is up to snuff.

For anybody who’s an experienced 3d artist or scanner savvy – is there a perceived preference between Raptor, Mini 2, Miraco Plus devices? I’m aware and not worried about 3d clean up/scan prep, but I’d love to know if it’s realistic to get usable results for small model kits(gunpla, etc), and designer art so that I can both preserve and rebuild real life objects in a digital form.

Any insights are appreciated!
