Runout to a plane

Hello, we have a cut to length tube with a runout called out on the cut surface to the cylinder. To measure this with hand gages would you put it in a v-block and indicate along the cut surface while rotating? The walls of the tube are very thin, between 1.25 and 2.5mm depending on the diameter of the tube so not much surface area to probe.
