Background : Unreal Engine Marketplace, SketchFab store and Quixel was merged in single store front called Fab https://www.fab.com
They are giving 18k+ assets for free after the merger. You are talking about 18000 high quality assets. However you need to claim in two places. In fab which works best with Unreal Engine and will be future asset delivery in future. Secondly you need to claim in Quixel for the legacy versions in bridge which is to export to non unreal programs as Blender/Maya/3ds Max etc. If you are going to be using this assets in a different engine like Godot. Once claimed you get these assets forever. These are AAA game level assets up to 8k resolution. These assets are under Epic Content License Agreement. Indie license. In simple terms. Personal plan is for anything below $100,000 USD and indie plan is for anything below $2,000,000 USD. I am pretty sure as a small indie developer these should be within the parameters. If you exceed them you owe Epic a part of it. Very similar the Unreal Engine usage fees.
What do you need
- Create a Epic Games Account or use your existing account
- Go to https://www.fab.com and login with your Epic games account and claim the assets.
-
- Download and install Bridge.
- Goto Quixel.com Click on Megascans and claim there as well.
-
- Login to bridge and verify your assets you claimed in Quixel. These can be exported to non unreal engine using plugins.
I would highly recommend to get these before they go back as commercial paid assets.
