German company Paxos Solar has developed tiles that can connect to a heat pump, providing both electricity and heat for your home.
The tiles are set up to allow air to flow underneath them, and the heated air is then collected into a pipe that’s used to heat the home. In summer months, the energy from the tiles powers the heat pump to cool the house instead.
Recent studies showed heating systems like this could use 20% less energy and solar panels more broadly could save up to 40% in costs for a community, so combining the two technologies suggests even more savings for homeowners. Read More
