Google has revamped its Family Link parental controls, introducing a dedicated Screen Time tab to better monitor kids’ app usage. Key among the updates are new School Time options, allowing parents to restrict app access during school hours. This follows a trend of states enforcing stricter smartphone regulations in classrooms. Additionally, parents can now manage their child’s contacts, though they still can’t view messages or search activities. Notably, kids can opt out of these controls once they turn 13, maintaining a balance between oversight and independence.

How do you feel about increased parental controls in tech? Are they necessary or too invasive?
