I have been struggling for months to figure this out.
Our Faro scanner is ok, but the scans do not align properly in the Scene software.
I can’t tell if it is because:
A) the scanner is including registration data with the scans, thus making it so that Scene is already dealing with misaligned scans when it imports them, or
B) The scene software is just trash at aligning point clouds.
We had a Trimble scanner and used RealWorks for many years. I could take hundreds of scans and not ONCE did RealWorks EVER fail to register the point clouds.
Since switching over to the Faro scanner and point cloud software, the registration process has been a total mess. It takes DAYS to painstakingly align each scan manually. How did this technology get so much worse in the past five years?
