CPU/Mobo – Asus X99-A showing 00 Q Code [HELP] | TechEnclave

Hey, I have a PC I built in 2014 on the Asus X99-A motherboard. Over the years I’ve added a lot to it.
Recently it just started showing issues and finally threw a “00” Qcode.
Does anyone have experience troubleshooting this or was able/unable to get this fixed by themselves or by a professional.
Does anyone know any reliable professionals who can attempt to fix this? (I’m based in Ahmedabad, but dont mind shipping anywhere in India – especially Mumbai)

Things I’ve already tried:

  • Reseating the CPU
  • Changing the CPU (booted one time when I first changed the CPU but never again)
  • Changing the RAM kit
  • Reducing the number of RAM sticks
  • Changing BIOS version (before the board was bricked and used to show 00 only ocassionaly)
  • Changing CMOS battery

Specs: (this sign “->” means upgraded to)

  • PSU : Season M12 EVO 2 750w -> Corsair RM1000-X
  • MoBo : Asus X99-A
  • CPU : intel core i7 5820k -> Xeon E5-2698 v3 (no manual OC since 2023)
  • GPU: Asus Strix GTX 970
  • RAM : Crucial basic 8GBx2 kit -> Gskill TridentZ 8GBx4 kit (golden kit certified for X99)
  • SSD : 500GB WD SN770 Black (boot drive)
  • PCIe : GloTrends m.2 to PCIe connector with Kingston NV2 1TB (work drive)
    Fenvi PCIe Wifi + BT Card (intel AX3000 based)

History of issues in my PC:

  • 2020 : overclocked and transported in a car for the first time to carry it to my friend’s home (he wanted to render a shortfilm in Davinci Resolve)
  • 2021 : Started having memory controller issues with my 5820K, it would suddenly stop seeing 1 RAM. Then it started giving BSODs randomly or not booting then I tried to keep the cabinet laid down and not standing up which solved most issues, then I researched and found this is a connection issue so I reseated my CPU. When I opened the CPU i saw it had some burn marks – which on further research I found just clean it and put it back in it will work. After this RAM thing resolved for few months but then started having the issue again. Finally decided to change RAM sticks in 2022 to a cerified kit from my Asus manual. The issues were still there but not as extreme or frequent as before.
  • 2023 : PSU started smoking, immediately disconnected it upgraded to Corsair RM1000-X (the new one with support for new GPUs) which worked ok for most part
  • 2024 : In Q1 upgraded to a Xeon E5-2698 v3 purchased on eBay (this is from old servers sold by certified sellers who stress test the CPUs and then sell) which has been working fine, even fixed the memory issues for a few months. Then in Q3, I started having memory issues again like one RAM would randomly not get detected etc… and overall the system suddenly started becoming unreliable throwing random boot errors and on. Booting this was a task in it’s own – removing 2 ram sticks, removing 1 etc.. finally I ended up using only 2 sticks which worked for like 10 days and then the board finally gave 00 error which according my search can not be fixed. After this I was busy with moving homes so was not paying attention to PC and adjusting with a laptop. But now I’m available to work towards fixing it.

Any help / suggestions on this matter are most welcome.

The best way you can help me is

  • Connecting me with someone reliable in Ahmedbad who has / who can fix motherboards
  • Connecting me with someone who has a great condition working X99 board which I can buy (ideally ASUS X99 Deluxe)
