I’m in the market for a new phone and trying to decide if switching from Pixel to the new iPhone is worth it.
The main feature pulling me toward the iPhone is the LiDAR sensor. I enjoy scanning objects with photogrammetry, both as a hobby and for professional fabrication source material—I program 5-axis CNC machines, so accurate scans are valuable for me.
The iPhone is about $500 more than the Pixel 9 pro I’m looking at with trade value applied. For those of you who use the iPhone’s LiDAR for 3D scanning or similar applications, do you think it’s worth the extra cost? Does it significantly improve scan quality? Or am I going to get by with the pixel9pros great camera?
I typically have used polyCam and get decent results for the Pixel 7 pro. Is the iPhone Lidar scan a significant upgrade?
