Today I want to share an example of how the MMT-system (Modular Marker Tower) can be configured without the use of any additional markers on objects with complex geometry being scanned. The best way is to create as much of a random pattern in 3D-space as possible with the markers using the different marker modules. If placing markers on this object, it would have degraded the level of detail as it would have covered quite a lot of the holes. What can also be seen is that the PIR-sensor and the surrounding lightguide made of silicone has been removed from the scan data, this is because it caused a lot of issues, as the diffuse lightguide and PIR-sensor lens are excellent at scattering the light being projected onto it, basically making it impossible to scan without scanning spray (which I didn’t want to use on this item). Scanner used was CR-Scan Otter. All the parts that I create for the MMT-system are freely available here if anyone would think it could be useful and want to give it a try: https://makerworld.com/en/collections/3454869 submitted by /u/Pawpawpaw85 |
