Latios
I got the EINSTAR VEGA during the Black Friday sale, mainly to scan and document some of my collectibles. Yesterday I scanned my Latios and Latias figurines, which are only about 5 cm in size. Latios was made by aligning two scanning together, while Latias was captured in one scan, even flipping it over mid-scan automatically align perfectly.
Here are my thoughts of the scanning process:
- The scanner handles hand movements really well—no misalignment or excessive noise data even when there was some slight shaking during the scan.
- I hope they add features like automatic plane removal soon. The whole process took about 30 minutes, with over 10 minutes spent manually removing unnecessary flat surfaces. I think it will save at least 5-6mins if there is a cutting plane.
- The scan details are excellent. The device allows a resolution of up to 0.1mm, which worked perfectly for such small objects. On PC, the 0.06mm mesh data even captured the engraved serial numbers on the figurines clearly.
- Textures affected by shadows can be slightly unclear—I hope they find ways to optimize this in future updates.
The HD mode scan performance fully met my expectations. Before buying, I checked a lot of reviews of earlier versions, and I’m so glad I got the Vega at version 1.2. EINSTAR VEGA is the only truly portable 3D scanner that allows for flexible scanning wherever I go!
