Hello everyone,
I’ve wanted to add a 3D scanner to my equipment for a while now and think I have narrowed down my search to an Einstar. I wanted to go with it becuase of its price and use case. I would mostly use the scanner for smaller to medium car parts, maybe trim panels, and a few smaller items but would like the ability to scan large body panels aswell. From what I’ve seen the Einstar is the way to go for these use cases.
Where I run into a problem is that I have a really capable desktop computer but no laptop which seems to be more of a requirement with an Einstar.
My question is first if the Einstar is actually a good choice for me. And second if it is can I use a system like a USB ethernet extender and just run a cable from my desktop outside into my garage where the scanning would take place. This is a similar system to what I was thinking linked below. I have little experience with 3D scanners so any thoughts would be appreciated even if this is a horrible idea.
