Texans vs. Jets score, live updates: C.J. Stroud and Houston head to New York for Thursday Night Football

The Houston Texans’ 2024 start has picked up right where the 2023 season left off. Houston won the AFC South last year and is out to a two-game lead in the division over the Colts halfway through the season, and the Texans have already swept Indianapolis, so they hold the tiebreaker over the only other team in the division without a losing record. C.J. Stroud is among the league leaders in passing yards once again, but he’ll be without one of his top targets for the rest of the year, with Stefon Diggs out with a torn ACL.

The Jets, who were looking for a shot in the arm when they traded for Davante Adams a couple of weeks ago, have lost five straight games after a 2-1 start and find themselves at the bottom of the AFC East. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich is looking for answers after a 25-22 loss to the New England Patriots, who picked up just their second win of the season in that game. Adams has yet to make a major impact with the Jets, with seven catches for 84 yards, and his third week reunited with Aaron Rodgers could be another tough night at the office with Houston boasting the No. 3 ranked pass defense in the NFL.

  • Nice catch by Robert Woods

After review, officials say Malachi Corley did indeed drop the ball before he crossed the goal line. The ball rolled through the back of the end zone, making it a touchback for the Texans.

Joe Mixon had a 17-yard run on 2nd-and-3, but a holding penalty on Cade Stover brings that play back.

On the next play, C.J. Stroud is sacked again. And on 3rd-and-15, he throws incomplete.

A 52-yard Tommy Townsend punt gives the Jets the ball back at their 31-yard-line.

  • Jets fans already booing the home team

Jets have to punt after Aaron Rodgers throws incomplete to Mike Williams on 3rd-and-9. The fans at MetLife Stadium come with the boos. Tough crowd!
