Carbon-neutral facility reinforcing Siemens’ commitment to net-zero operations.
Siemens has opened a $190 million electrical equipment manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, TX. As part of the company’s Smart Infrastructure business, the site produces low-voltage switchboards and other electrical equipment to support demand from the data center market and AI-related infrastructure in the U.S.
The 500,000-square-foot facility has created 480 jobs and is expected to reach 800 by 2026. Former teachers and school principals play a key role in employee training, using their experience to develop curriculum that supports various learning styles. This approach helps new employees transition efficiently from training to production. Siemens prepares employees through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training before assigning them to the production floor.
Aligned with Siemens’ goal of achieving net-zero carbon operations by 2030, the Fort Worth facility operates as a carbon-neutral site. Featuring an electrical powder-coat paint line, electric forklifts, low-energy-consuming HVAC systems, photovoltaic streetlights, advanced energy monitoring, and LuxWall windows designed for improved efficiency. These measures aim to reduce costs and energy consumption in manufacturing.
The facility team used Siemens’ Digital Industries software to improve production flow. Siemens Technomatix’s 3D models were used to simulate, validate, and commission the production process, enabling a shop floor design that supports higher production quality.
These investments include a $95 million investment in Pomona, CA to add capacity to its legacy Electrical Products factory, a $36 million investment in Wendell, NC, to expand its fabrication capacities, customer experience, and workforce training, a $220 million investment in a new rail manufacturing facility in Lexington, NC, to establish a bicoastal “Made in America” rail manufacturing footprint, and an expansion of its existing Electrical Products manufacturing plant in Grand Prairie, TX.
