I bought the original einstar about a year ago. Great device and absolutely mind blowing how well it scans. However, I’m having trouble scanning edges and nooks and crannies. I’m starting to think this scanner isn’t built for objects I’m scanning. I’m scanning interior car parts. For my car and then to 3d print and sell for a small profit online. All my parts are smaller than 2ft sq. Some are 6 inches but I’m struggling to capture the sharp edges and when I mesh they just look horrible. I’ve made it work for some parts but I’m spending HOURS and HOURS post processing and starting to think I bought too “large” of a scanner. I’m an engineer and have CAD experience, I don’t think I’m struggling there. But I’m spending so much time in CAD to correct and post process the places the scanner lacks. I added some pics of what I’m working on. Along with one of my latest headaches. I’ve since used tape to block off the hole and got it in post processing but it’s stuff like this that seems to be taking a lot that I feel a “small object” scanner could fix. Like the grille looking face on the first pic.. even on high resolution my einstar doesn’t see it it just sees a ribbed surface but no through hole. Thank you for your help submitted by /u/zeroxo123 |
