CES2025, Intel unveiled the new Intel Core Ultra 200HX and 200H series mobile processors


At CES2025, Intel unveiled the new Intel Core Ultra 200HX and 200H series mobile processors. These processors feature better performance cores (P-cores) and energy-efficient cores (E-cores). They also feature an integrated NPU built for AI acceleration and Intel Arc graphics.

Intel introduced several new products, mainly the new Intel Core Ultra 200HX and 200H series mobile processors, the new Intel Core Ultra 200U series mobile processors, the new 65W and 35W Core Ultra 200S series desktop processors, and the new Intel Core Ultra 200V series of mobile processors based on the Intel vPro platform.

“Intel Core Ultra processors are setting a new benchmark for mobile AI and graphics technology, and this is another testament to the performance and efficiency that x86 architecture is delivering as it shapes the future of personal computing,” said Michelle Johnston Holthaus, interim co-CEO of Intel and CEO of Intel Products. The strength of Intel’s AI PC product innovations, combined with the breadth and scale of our hardware and software ecosystem across all market segments, is providing users with a better experience in the traditional way we use PCs to productivity, create, and communicate while opening up more than 400 new AI-related capabilities. Intel will continue to drive the development of its AI PC portfolio in 2025 and will mass-produce products based on Intel’s 18A process technology in the second half of 2025. ”

Key features of the Intel Core Ultra 200HX and 200H series mobile processors include:

  • With up to 24 cores (8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores) and up to 16 cores (6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 2 low-power efficiency cores), the new HX processors are built on Intel’s latest core architecture and provide gamers, creators, and professionals with the computing power they need to play and create on the go. The Intel Core Ultra 200HX series delivers up to 41% better multi-threaded performance than the previous generation of HX-series processors.
  • Intel Core Ultra 200H-series processors feature Intel Arc graphics with up to 8 IntelX-e-cores. They are equipped with an Intel Matrix Engine built for AI acceleration, which delivers up to 22% faster gaming performance than the previous generation of H-series processors. The new processor’s GPU, CPU, and NPU on the entire platform deliver up to 99 TOPS of computing power.

The Intel Core Ultra 200HX series processors are Intel’s first AI PC processors built for mobile enthusiasts with built-in NPU, which can deliver up to 13 TOPS of computing power. The series processors have up to 48 PCIe lanes (including PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 lanes), bringing new bandwidth and connectivity to connect the latest discrete GPUs and storage.

Advances in packaging technology have reduced the overall size of the processor package by 33%, enabling a new, high-quality, thin, and light design without sacrificing superior performance.

Some Intel Core Ultra 200HX series SKUs offer overclocking options to further optimize performance, with key features including:

  • Compute overclocking of Performance Cores and Energy Efficiency Cores.
  • Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) with support for DDR5 SODIMM overclocking.
  • A new overclocking interface, including die-to-die connection and fabric, and control options such as a 16.6MHz ratio are included.
  • Intel Extreme Tuning Utility supports one-click overclocking with the Intel Speed Optimizer feature.

In addition, Intel is introducing the Intel Core Ultra 200U series of mobile processors, equipped with up to 2 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, IntelX e LPG architecture graphics, and up to 24 TOPS of platform computing power. These systems offer users an excellent balance between performance, power efficiency, and price.

With up to 8 performance and 16 efficiency cores, these new processors will provide consumers with a performance- and energy-efficient desktop CPU solution for gaming, creating, or using productivity applications.

Intel Core Ultra processors (2nd gen) support advanced connectivity, with key features including:

AI optimization for edge computing

Intel has also announced a new range of edge computing processors designed to deliver scalability and superior performance for various use cases. Intel Core Ultra processors exhibit exceptional power efficiency, making them ideal for edge AI workloads.

The new Intel Core Ultra 9 processors set a new benchmark for AI capabilities at the edge with massive performance gains over the previous generation for AI workloads. Compared to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H and 185H, Procyon’s AI Computer Vision test showed up to 2.2x faster performance, Llama 3 8B up to 3.3x faster performance, and Stable Diffusion 1.5 up to 2.3x faster performance.

Key edge products announced today at CES include:

  • Intel Core Ultra 200S/H/U series processors (codenamed Arrow Lake).
  • Intel Core 200S/H series processors (codenamed Bartlett Lake S and Raptor Lake H Refresh).
  • Intel Core 100U series processors (codenamed Raptor Lake U Refresh).
  • Intel Core 3 processor and Intel processor (codenamed Twin Lake).

Intel Core Ultra 200V series systems powered by the Intel vPro platform will be available at online retailers, brick-and-mortar stores, and OEM partner stores starting January 6, 2025. Subsequently, Intel Core Ultra 200H, U-series processors, including Intel Core Ultra 200HX series processors, will be released in the first half of 2025, and more details will be announced before the processors go on sale.
