I am running a PG on 2 floors and my building is 3 side open with parking + 4 floors + terrace. I have to install a CCTV setup of 8 cameras, 3 for ground floor & 1 on each floor including terrace. 2 cctv to be waterproof & rest normal. viewing distance on ground floor needs to be 45 feet max with clarity & on individual floors it should be max 15 feet.
As currently companies are providing online connectivity in DVRs too, I would prefer DVR of 8ch but i will be using the cat6 cable as through that i have future expansion slot and i can also open my electronic gates through that on the ground floor.
Please suggest camera & DVR accordingly (full setup).
Saw this posted on an ipcam forum. They suggested that the following resolution and sensor size should be matched to get a good picture quality.
720P – 1/3″ = .333″
2MP – 1/2.8″ = .357″ (think a .38 caliber bullet)
4MP – 1/1.8″ = .555″ (bigger than a .50 caliber bullet or ball)
8MP – 1/1.2″ = .833″ (bigger than a 20mm chain gun round)
